This crude sunflower oil refining process flow chart is made based on the design of our engineer. As the picture shows, the whole crude sunflower oil refining process includes degumming, deacidification, decolorization, deodorization and dewaxing. Among them, dewaxing is the special steps in sunflower oil refining process. Because of high wax content, to obtain higher standards of final product sunflower oil, it is necessary to remove the wax.

The first step of crude sunflower oil refining process is degumming, which is to remove the gums in the crude sunflower oil by adding hot water. Then after settlement, we can remove the gums.

Second is the deacidification, by using alkali like (NaOH) to neutralize with FFA in the crude sunflower oil, during this crude sunflower oil refining process, it will produce soapstock, then we can separate it from the oil and use it to make soap.

Because there is pigment in crude sunflower oil, in order to lighten the oil color, we need to use the white clay to absorb the pigment away, then use vibrating filter to separate the waste clay. This is the decolorization/ bleaching part of crude sunflower oil refining process.

The final part of crude sunflower oil refining process is called deodorization. General speaking, the crude oil smells not good, and it will affect oil storage and value. So we usually use the direct steam to take odors away during this crude sunflower oil refining process. After that, the final oil will be refined once again through safety filter and then pump into oil storage tank for sale.
